How to lose weight and burn fat with minimal exercise
Dare I repeat it.
This article will give you a few ideas on how to lose weight and burn fat with minimal exercise.
You may be wondering if I am peddling some miracle fat burning powder or the next slim-fast.
Sorry to disappoint you but I’m all sold out on miracle cures.
But…
I have something even better. A proposition. Still reading? Good.
What I have for you today is a way for you to start shedding some pounds and get somebody definition back. But before we get into the meat of the article (excuse the pun I’m not going to sell you any meat either), let me ask you a question.
Ready?
Lose weight and burn fat like a firefighter
How do firefighters successfully put out fire after fire? Do they try different things each time they go out and hope they work, or they stick to a tried and tested formula? Well, the answer is, if you haven’t guessed already, they stick to a tried and proven formula, the fire triangle.
You see. Fire needs three things to thrive:
- Fuel
- Oxygen
- Heat (source)
Think of this as a three-legged stool. For it to balance and support your weight, all three legs have to be sturdy. Disturb any one of the legs and you’ll soon find yourself sitting on the floor.
What does this have to do with losing weight and burning fat you ask. Rightly so. You see. So many people believe that to lose weight you need to exercise more, harder, faster. This is simply not the case.
When a fireman arrives at the scene of a fire, they assess the fire based on the three legs above. If they can quickly eliminate one of the legs, the fire is soon under control.
When it comes to attacking out of control body weight, taking a similar approach will yield results faster. You can continue eating the same food that led you to put on weight and exercise more. However, studies have shown you stand a better chance of achieving your desired weight if you tackle your nutrition first.
Diet versus Nutrition
Diet: a special course of food to which a person restricts themselves, either to lose weight or for medical reasons.
I dislike the word diet as in a specific diet program and prefer the term nutrition.
So why does it make sense to tackle nutrition first before exercise? The simple answer is that adopting a healthy nutrition plan will help put the brakes on your weight gain trajectory.
Have you ever had to slam the emergency brake whilst driving? How quickly does your car stop? Have you ever prayed the car in front of you to go faster? What has that done to your own speed?
See, tackling nutrition and adopting a diet focused on providing the fuel your body needs for the level of daily activity will soon balance the energy equation calories in = calories out. Once you reach this equilibrium it means you have essentially slammed the brakes on weight gain. You’re then able to introduce elements of exercise to tip the balance towards burning more calories than you take in. Before you know it the pounds start falling away, just like magic. Sorry, I lied when I said I’m not selling any magic portions today.
